Frequently Asked Questions

This is my first visit.
What should I expect?

On your first visit, you'll fill out a short health history form so we can develop a safe and effective plan for your session. This intake process also allows us to clarify your goals for the session and how bodywork might support your general wellness goals.

What about privacy and confidentiality?

You'll always have complete privacy while undressing and dressing, and will be fully draped during the massage, except for the area of the body being worked on. You may undress completely or wear underwear or a swimsuit.

The information in your health history form and anything you say during a session is confidential. I will not release or in any way share this information without your prior written consent.

That really depends on your goals and intentions for receiving bodywork and what fits into your budget. You’ll probably feel better (or great!) after one massage, and in the short term, that may meet your needs. In an acute situation such as recovering from traumatic injury, several sessions may be in order.

More important than frequency is consistency. Every session is an opportunity to practice attending closely to where the body is holding tension, and to practice letting the tension go. When you’re coming in on a regular basis, we can identify and begin unwinding the habits or patterns of holding tension before they manifest as headaches, “wonky shoulders,” stiff back, and so on.  This is the real benefit of regular bodywork.

Enhanced body awareness on the table translates into greater body awareness off the table, so that you can better take care of yourself over time. That's the path to true body sustainability!
